General Prohibition
- Firearms and ammunition not intended for hunting or sporting purposes are strictly prohibited as baggage.
- The carriage of firearms or ammunition in the cabin without special authorization is strictly prohibited.
Hunting and Sporting Firearms and Ammunition
Firearms and ammunition for hunting and sporting purposes are accepted only if:
- They are placed in adequate containers.
- They are unloaded and inspected by police officers.
- They are escorted to the aircraft by Flightlink Security Officers.
- Ammunition carriage is subject to ICAO and IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations.
Passengers must declare all firearms and ammunition to security personnel at the customs area and obtain a firearm declaration form before boarding the flight.
Weapons for Law Enforcement Officers (LEOs)
Authorized carriage of weapons by LEOs and other authorized personnel acting in their official capacity requires the following:
- Submission of written documentation requesting weapon carriage.
- Written approval of the request.
- Authorization from the destination and transit states.
- Notification to the receiving entities at the airport of arrival.
- Briefing of armed personnel on the regulations for carrying weapons in all relevant jurisdictions.
- Confirmation of awareness of risks and procedures related to weapons on board.
Legally Acquired Weapons for Personal Security
Passengers with legally acquired weapons for personal security must follow these procedures:
- Present documentation proving legal possession and transportation rights.
- Surrender the weapon to Flightlink Security Officers for verification by police.
- Authorization from the destination and transit states.
- Ensure the weapon is unloaded, ammunition counted, and documented in the Weapon Handling Form
- Securely store the weapon and ammunition in separate containers inaccessible during the flight.
- At transit or transfer points, authorized personnel will handle the weapon.
- At the destination, the weapon will be returned after verification in the presence of a police officer.
Key Notes
- The Pilot in Command (PIC) will be informed of the presence and seat locations of any armed personnel.
- Passengers not authorized to carry weapons will not be permitted to board with firearms or ammunition.
- If additional security measures are required in a foreign country, Flightlink will coordinate with relevant authorities in advance.
